The Power of Aquafacial: Where Technology Meets Design
By Leila Cunningham, Head of Skin Care Products at CLN Company
Clean Face Company blends cutting-edge technology with elegant design to craft products that seamlessly marry functionality and luxury. Our one-of-a-kind Aquafacial home device is the culmination of years of meticulous development. To provide insights into the distinctive features of our device, we sat down with Eric Anderson, our Chief Technology Officer, to discuss the technological advancements, design, and why Aquafacial is unique.
What is your background?
I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After 15 years working in the Aerospace industry, I started my own design and manufacturing company in 2017. My core experience is designing and overseeing the development of highly reliable electronics. Leading the engineering efforts at Clean Face Company has provided me with valuable insights and parallels, as our ultimate goal is to create exceptional products that deliver unique benefits to our customers and stand the test of time.
What is Hydrocleanse technology?
Hydrocleanse is the technology that blends our facial device, the Aquafacial, with our proprietary Aquafacial Cleansing Serum for a unique at-home facial experience. Hydrocleanse includes both mechanical suction and specifically selected bioactive ingredients to deep clean (cleanse) your pores while hydrating your skin (hydro).
What are the two tubes that connect the wand and the device?
The first tube is connected to the serum jar and supplies serum to the tip. The second tube is connected to the "Junk Jar" and provides suction. This is what removes dead skin, dirt, debris and used serum.
Why is the pump important in the device?
The two critical criteria when selecting a pump for the Aquafacial were 1) vacuum range and 2) reliability. We tested numerous pump types and device configurations in the process of selecting the optimal pump for the Aquafacial device. It was important to select a pump that was gentle enough for a range of skin types (sensitive and typical skin alike), while also being powerful enough to perform pore cleansing, exfoliation, muscle stimulation and blood circulation. The selected pump is built to last as it is rated for over 15,000 one minute on, one minute off cycles.
What type of materials are used in Aquafacial device?
- Constructed from UL-approved ABS plastic, our device has undergone a rigorous certification process to attain UL certification. This assures you that the device has been meticulously designed and manufactured to meet stringent consumer product standards. Feel confident using it both in your home and on your skin, knowing that it prioritizes safety without compromising performance.
- We carefully selected silicone for all our tips due to its natural hypoallergenic properties. Our tips are thoughtfully designed with a smooth and rounded surface, allowing gentle contact with your skin. By utilizing a low durometer (hardness) silicone, we have created a soft and flexible interface that easily conforms to your skin, ensuring optimal suction during your Aquafacial routine. This combination of meticulous design and material choice provides a gentle experience for your skin, allowing for safe and effective use 2-3 times per week. Additionally, silicone is non-porous, making it effortless to clean and resistant to dirt, bacteria, and the absorption of skin care products.
- The tips included with the Aquafacial device are a result of numerous conceptual designs, 18 distinct prototypes, and a careful selection process. The three tip designs were selected based on their suction power, serum flow, tip angle, and suitability for specific use cases. Our collection comprises of the:
- Gentle Cleansing Tip
- Pro Cleansing Tip
- Fine Tip.
Can we use water or different serums in the Aquafacial device?
Hydrocleanse technology relies on the synergistic combination of the Aquafacial Cleansing Serum's carefully curated ingredients and the powerful suction of the Aquafacial device. Through prototyping and rigorous testing Clean Face Company developed a specialized, low viscosity, and anti-foaming solution explicitly formulated to optimize performance with the Aquafacial pump. For optimal results, we highly recommend utilizing the Aquafacial Cleansing Serum in conjunction with the Aquafacial device.
How often should you clean your Aquafacial?
To maintain your Aquafacial and ensure the best results, I recommend following these suggestions.
For everyday care:
- Add an adequate amount of Aquafacial Cleansing Serum for a single use, ensuring no serum remains in the Serum Jar after each facial.
- After a facial, begin by emptying the Junk Jar and wiping it clean with a cloth before reinstalling it, making sure it is tightly secured during your next facial.
-
Wipe out the Serum Jar and keep the tips clean by washing them with soap and water, followed by thorough rinsing and drying.
For a more thorough clean:
-
Use a damp cloth with soap and water to wash the Serum Jar, Junk Jar, and the overall enclosure.
-
Afterwards, use a dry cloth to remove any excess soap and water.
-
For the tips, clean them with 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and allow them to air dry immediately. Remember not to leave the tips soaking in IPA.
By following these suggestions you can maintain a clean and well-functioning Aquafacial for optimal performance.
